Dog Sledding!

Tsk…this video above is supposed to be the last video in this post!

I’m so glad Carole told me how much she loved this aspect of her Hurtigruten experience! Big wow. I went sledding from our stop in Tromso.
Before climbing into the sleigh, we met many of the dogs and heard about how they are trained and managed and cared for. I met and patted many of the gorgeous Alaskan Huskies  - a mixed breed that are strong, love running and not aggressive and make such a racket, barking and howling and demanding pats when not running.

The sleigh is made from wood, low to the ground and cushioned with a reindeer skin. I was in there with Kay from the UK and our driver was Noah from near Berlin. Our outfits kept us protected from the cold and apart from camera hands, we were all warm enough, off and running:

Thank you Noah for a great adventure!  The silly hat helped to keep me warm. I later discovered that I had left my gloves in the deep pockets of the overalls.

The day ended with gorgeous soft views of Tromso.  I waved goodbye to Kerrie and Peter from Newcastle AU and joined Keith for a dinner without them for the first time.

We left Tromso and continued north.
